Vocabulary Test

WARNING: If you read this, you MUST respond. Your input is vital to the research I am conducting.

One of our favorite pastimes as a married couple is arguing about vocabulary. Without going into detail, I am wanting to know more about you (our readers) and the extent of your own day-to-day vocabulary.

How familiar are you with the word "halcyon". Without looking it up, could you give us a decent definition or use it in a sentence?

On a scale of 1-5 please tell us how often you use the word "halcyon". 1 being "never use it or heard of it" and 5 being "i say it or read it on a daily basis"

Thanks for your input!

ummm...I guess I would have to say I'm a 1....nevery use it...but I think I have a font on my computer called "halcyon" if that helps?

it's more a phrase test and less a word test. ask people if they have heard of or used the phrase "halcyon days".

and imma pick 3. cause i don't use it daily but i use it when the situation calls for it.

lastly, i wonder if there is a poll app on facebook that would make this kind of thing a lot easier.

1 on the word and phrase. I've never heard it used either.

I am a 1...no idea what it is and therefore never use it. I was thinking it looked familiar but had no idea why until I saw Laura's response. And yes, I too have a font called Halcyon.

I think that I read this word a couple of posts ago on Brian's-internet-education-for-the-rest-of-us...

Not to fuel anyone's proverbial fire, but I think that IF this word was included in the afore mentioned posting that probably BOTH Brian and Liz's points are well made and taken :)

Sorry, I would rate myself 1, because I never use the word/phrase, but I did remember seeing it used by Brian...although that wasn't the memorable part of that post...the memory of Rick Astley was it!

1 here too. Never use it. Liz, I'm dying to hear what your research reveals! :)

1 Definitely a 1.

How do you pronounce it? If I was playing Balderdash for a million dollars, I would say it is a computer code text.
Do I win?

1 but now I know a new word that I should use more often because some one in the Kirkby house uses it.
